Dell 924 – An Awesome Printer
The Dell Photo All-In-One Printer 924 is an excellent choice as a printer – a perfect combination of speed and quality. However, the 924 is an all-in-one (AIO), and fails to impress - no automatic document feeder (ADF) or fax modem. In addition, the 924 only offers the ability to print directly from a PictBridge camera. The printer can be considered for home or light-duty printing use.
With 11.4 inches in height, 17.2 inches in width and 17.5 inches in depth, the 924 is small. Place the printer on a desk or on any flat surface, the 924 occupies very little space. The printer can be connected to a USB 2.0, and can be installed with ease with the fully automated installation program. The printer has the Dell 924 ink cartridges that can be installed either with the black and tricolor cartridge that comes with for four-colors - cyan, yellow, magenta, and black or replace the black for a six-color photo cartridge - adding light cyan and light magenta to ensure superior photos.
The 924 performance tests were excellent in its price class - on business the applications suite the 924 took a total time of 19 minutes 47 seconds. The 924 outperformed the other printers for speed - averaging 1:14 for each 4-by-6 and 2:42 for each 8-by-10.
The output quality is also excellent - good for text, very good for graphics and excellent for photos. Both the graphics and photos are toward the top of the range in its price class.
However, the print outs are not waterproof. So, if reprinting is not required and don't require an ADF or built-in fax modem, the 924 is a great amalgam of speed, quality, and features in its price class.
