Lanier LD-151 – High Functioning Laser Copy Machine
As the least powerful in a series of three multifunctional copy machines from Lanier, the Lanier LD-151 certainly still holds its own as far as raw power. Though it is the little brother to the Lanier LD-160 and Lanier LD-175 units, the machine can still print and copy at the blazing fast speed of up to 51 pages per minute, even though the device itself is almost six years old.
While the other models in the series can top out at 60 and even 75 pages per minute in print speed, the Lanier LD-151 is still notably fast and carries all the same hardware as the other models. Its black and white print resolution is exceptional with full 1200 dots per inch quality. Its first copy time of only 4.2 seconds keeps single page copies moving along briskly without hindering workflow, and multiple copies of up to 999 at a time can be made from a single source.
A remarkably powerful automatic document feeder is also entirely standard with the Lanier LD-151. It not only has a large 100 sheet capacity, but full reversing abilities as well. With an RADF, two sided input can be mechanically flipped within the device itself for double sided scanning and, thanks to the copy machines built in automatic duplexor, two sided output is possible as well. Unfortunately the unit runs entirely in black and white, as most high functioning laser copy machines do, but it would be hard to find a device better suited for making multiples of double sided text documents.
The unit also has an incredible internal document server that is powered by a 40 GB hard drive and 128 MBs of internal RAM. This server can store up to 3,000 documents with a maximum of 2,000 pages per file. Stored files can then be printed directly from the unit without the intervention of a PC. This type of constant, unlimited access to commonly used material, such as brochures or business forms, can save notable amounts of time when compared to printing from a PC or making new copies.
Standard paper capacity is more than notable as well, with 4,300 sheets of storage, standard. Paper storage is composed of two 1,550 sheet capacity tandem trays and two 550 sheet standard trays, plus a 100 sheet bypass tray which is ideal for loading special media types without unloading one's standard paper supplies. With all these paper options available, the Lanier LD-151's maximum potential paper capacity is an eye popping 8,300 sheets.
Many special accessories and features are available for the Lanier LD-151. Features include, along with the document server, a batch mode, auto tray switching, original combining, an energy saver mode, job presets for up to 8 jobs, a photo mode, sample copy, scan once / print many, stamping, slip sheets, tab printing, and up to 500 user codes. Though the Lanier LD-151 is very old, its extremely beefy hardware has far from gone out of date, and would be hard to beat, even today.
