Konica Minolta MagiColor 7450 – Photo Quality Large Format Printer
If you ever wondered what spending two or three thousand dollars on a desktop printer could result in, the Konica Minolta MagiColor 7450 is the answer. This high priced model is of a very rare breed, combining full color photo quality imagery with oversized paper, resulting in the ideal combination for a small graphics based business or independent graphic designer.
With print resolution that is through the roof and enormous print size compatibility, the Konica Minolta MagiColor 7450 is very unique in its ability to produce larger than normal, full color output which can be useful when producing small banners and color pamphlets. A print speed of approximately 24.5 pages per minute also ensures that wait times will be at an absolute minimum with the device, though this speed is for letter sized paper only. Ledger and tabloid sized paper will take considerably longer to print, especially when dealing with full page imagery.
Utilizing an Emperon print system, the Konica Minolta MagiColor 7450excels at not only speed performance, but resolution as well. With an incredible print quality of 9600 x 600 dots per inch, the 7450 easily competes with photo quality inkjets as far as dpi. The unit's maximum monthly duty cycle also makes it completely business ready, with 120,000 pages allowed per month. The unit would be perfectly suited for an operation that requires constant use and, for the price, wouldn't be suited for anything less.
A built in processor capable of 733 MHz via G4 technology helps to keep even large projects moving along at a fever pitch, while 256 MBs of built in DDR SDRAM keeps track of mixed source material such as combined text and imagery. A single additional memory slot allows for a full gigabyte of upgrades, and an optional 40 GB hard drive can be helpful when storing commonly used forms and frequent data. PostScript 3, PCL 6, PDF, and JPEG emulations push the speed limit even harder when dealing with text only application.
Gigabit Ethernet network connectability allows for full network support across an entire office or home setup, and both high speed USB 2.0 and Parallel ports assist in making single PC hosting possible. Paper handling comes in the form of 350 standard sheets worth of storage, but thanks to multiple paper expansion options, up to 1,850 sheets of storage is entirely possible. Paper sizes range from index card size all the way up above and beyond ledger size to 12.25 x 47.24 inches for a banner sized output.
Media thickness can range from ultra thin all the way up to 256 G/M weight, while Simitri polymerized toner keeps imagery looking sharp at any particular weight. Built in automatic ICC based color matching keeps color accuracy at an optimal level, while an additional USB 1.1 port allows for Pictbridge compatibility. With direct camera connectivity, the Konica Minolta MagiColor 7450 continues to stand out as a perfect print option for businesses that require extremely high resolution, full color output in a large format.
