HP OfficeJet 6210 – Thermal Inkjet Color All In One Device
With a full lineup of standard multifunctional features such as print, fax, and copy capabilities, paired with convenient, user friendly additions such as direct camera printing, the HP OfficeJet 6210 shines as a helpful household device that allows individuals access to many office machines combined into one.
With direct camera printing, the HP OfficeJet 6210 can operate as a stand alone unit and print directly from a connected PictBridge enabled camera or other electronic device. A front USB port allows for the easy connection of this new industry standard electronic communication format. Unfortunately, without the use of a connected host PC, photos can only be printed at a resolution of 1200 dots per inch. This is due to image resolution enhancement made possible by host based printing that can bring photo quality up to 4800 x 1200 dots per inch.
Other handy features incorporated into the HP OfficeJet 6210 include a 20 sheet automatic document feeder that is ideal for hands free copying, faxing, and scanning of multiple page projects. Copies and scans can be done in full, vibrant color, and the MFC even supports color faxing. Black and white faxes top out in resolution at 300 x 300 dots per inch, but color faxes fall behind slightly with only 200 x 200 dots per inch in quality.
Black and white print speed can approach 23 pages per minute, but only in draft mode, while color print speed tops out at 18 pages per minute, also in draft mode. While much higher resolution settings are attainable, they will come at a cost to overall speed. HP PhotoRe III allows for 1200 x 1200 dot per inch quality in monochrome, and 4800 dpi in color. Copy resolution is also quite remarkable, with up to 4800 x 1200 dots per inch for both color and monochrome graphics and up to 600 x 1200 dots per inch for text.
Unfortunately, as a device programmed primarily for personal use, the HP OfficeJet 6210 offers only a very limited maximum monthly duty cycle totaling 3,000 pages. For optimal lifespan of the product, it is recommended that much less output be demanded of the printer. That being said, the MFC still manages to provide access to a very wide range of functions to the home user on a budget, such as faxing with the built in 33.6 Kbps fax modem that can send and receive data at a rate of approximately 3 seconds per page.
Copy speeds run at 15 pages per minute in black and white and 10 pages per minute in color. HP also provides customer service including a one year limited warranty and replacement plan, and user friendly controls and menus accessible via a 2 line text LCD display. The HP OfficeJet 6210's memory comes standard at 16 MBs, and can be upgraded to a total of 32 MBs, which adds a degree of versatility to this primarily unexpandable four in one office solution, making it a smart buy for the home user.
