Simple Maintenance Tips for Your Laser Printer
Laser printer is a popular peripheral device on your computer. It is your buddy when you like to print documents or images and graphics especially with color.
There are two types of laser printers: the monochrome printer and color laser printer. As per some online printing reviews on laser printers, a color laser printer is ten times more expensive than monochrome. No doubt the price of color laser is higher because it is able to produce prints in "color". But with regard to speed capability, monochrome is faster than laser printer, typically in the 4 to 10 ppm range.
The resolution of a laser printer is usually to 1200 dpi; but specialty printers can reach image setter resolution of 2400 dpi. It is able to do duplex printing (both sides), as well as collation, stapling and 3-hole punching as discussed on printing company reviews articles.
Since a laser printer is expensive, you need to at least know some guidelines on how to maintain it. Here are some typical problems that you might encounter with a laser printer:

The friction of the paper moving through the printer and the rotating drum of the toner cartridge creates an excessive static charge, drawing out more toner than what is needed. This creates a "halo" effect around each character of your printout. When this happens, adjust the printer density to print a much cleaner look.
Always on "processing job". This is a usual problem on laser printers especially when you are printing large or graphically complex documents. Increase the printer memory in the options to shorten the processing time.
Printing too light documents. When the print outs turn to be faded or too light, check your toner cartridge. Usually when this happens, the cartridge lacks toner. If there is a 'Toner Low' message on the printer's display, replace the cartridge. If there no 'Toner Low' message, you may want to just shake the cartridge to evenly distribute the toner inside. Use caution while doing this to ensure that no toner spills out on you. Also, you may want to check that the "economode" is turned off and the density settings are up.
Printers installed are all displayed. Try to click or highlight the printer you want or the one you are using to avoid hassle. Typically, if you can print a configuration page then there is a problem with the printer communicating with the network.
