Canon Copier Imageclass Mf6540
The Canon Copier ImageClass MF6540 is a duplex capable printer, copier, and scanner that boasts fast, efficient output. Clocking in at 24 pages per minute laser print speed, with a huge 500 sheet front loading storage cassette, this baby can move a lot of paper. The maximum monthly duty cycle of 15,000 sheets means that not only can it output a high volume, but do it without incident. There’s even a built in 100 sheet multipurpose tray designed to automatically load multiple types of media.
A full, legal sized document glass and flatbed design allows you to scan large single sheets, or use the 50 page automatic document feeder to automatically load either size of paper when copying, and scanning. Resolution isn’t bad, with copy quality adjustable to 600 x 600 dots per inch, or 1200 x 600 dpi quality, and scanning maxing out with an optical of 600 X 600 dots per inch, and interpolated at 9600 X 9600 dpi. The hardware can even scan in color at a 24 bit depth thanks to the color contact image sensor scanning element.
Networking is available, and compatible with certain systems including Windows® 7, Server 2008, Vista, Server 2003, XP, 2000, and Mac® OS X 10.2.8-10.6. The hi-speed USB 2.0 port also works with both Windows and Mac, though not with Sever 08. As far as image formats, any TWAIN interface is accepted for use with file formats of JPEG, PDF, TIFF, and BMP when scanning and printing.
With a first copy time set at a speedy eight seconds or less, you will definitely be putting the ADF to good use, whether making a straight copy, or utilizing the zoom feature, which allows you to reduce or enlarge via dedicated controls on the device in as small as single percentage increments, from fifty percent up to two hundred.
Canon implements a unique single toner cartridge system into many of their smaller duty machines, and the Canon Copier ImageClass MF6540 is no exception. A single Canon 106 cartridge can provide a full 5,000 sheet total paper yield, and is also much more convenient to swap out, thanks to a user friendly loading system.
Duplexing is available with not only printing, but also copying and even scanning, meaning two sided reproductions and scans are fully automated. Double sided printing can reduce overall paper usage by as much as half, and also makes for more professional looking manuscripts than single sided sheets.
The “Canon Generation Green” stamp, along with Energy Star qualification means that power consumption will be at a minimum for a device of the stature, which cuts down on overall price per page costs when the printer is in constant use.
Overall, the Canon Copier ImageClass MF6540 is a choice worth considering for a workload of light to medium demands, such as in a small office, and the built in Ethernet capabilities are something to consider when attempting to cut costs by networking a single machine to multiple computers. For a home or small business, the Canon Copier ImageClass MF6540 is worth considering.
