The Brother DCP-8080dn Digital Copier and Laser Printer is a serious office machine, weighing in at 70 pounds and measuring 22.3 x 24.7 x 22.6 inches. But in addition to serving as the work group printer, it also replaces the office scanner and copy machine so it uses it's space well and ultimately saves space in your office by eliminating the need for three separate machines. Because it is network ready, it can also reduce the number of printers in the office and save even more space and money, and it is fast enough to service a number of users comfortably in most office situations.
It has a maximum duty cycle of 30,000 pages per month, so it's good for a fair sized office and network.
The Brother DCP-8080dn Digital Copier and Laser Printer prints high quality, sharp laser documents at speeds of 29 pages per minute for both printing and copying at resolutions up to 1200 x 1200 dpi. This resolution produces very professional looking business documents, and the automatic duplexing makes your documents look even more professional by printing on both sides of the paper. That's also great because while it impresses your clients, it actually save you money in reduced paper costs.
You can connect this monochrome laser printer to your computer with a high speed USB 2.0 port or a parallel port, or you can hook it up to your Ethernet network and make it available to the whole work group. It is compatible with Windows PC, Linux and Macintosh computers.
It has a 50 sheet automatic feeder, a standard 250 sheet primary input tray and an optional 220 sheet secondary tray and a 150 sheet output tray. it's a little limited in only supporting Letter and Legal size paper, so if you print to a lot of non standard size media, this might not be the best choice for your only printer.
Owners of the Brother DCP-8080dn Digital Copier and Laser Printer report that installation and setup are about as simple and straightforward as it gets, and that it is just as easy to use as it is to set up. The user interface is intuitive, simple and easy to understand and use.
One thing you might want to consider before purchase is that the DCP-8080dn only duplexes for printing. Duplex is not available when copying or scanning. So if you need a duplex copier or a duplex scanner you might want to look at the DCP-8050 version instead. If you only copy and scan single sided documents, though, the price makes the Brother DCP-8080dn a very attractive option.
