Most Common Printer Reset Problems
Printers are one of the most commonly used electronic gadgets. Most of the work done these days is through electronic media. However, when people need hard copies of documents, and they need it quite often, they use printers to print them. As a result, printers are very much in demand in homes and offices. The most used printers are the shared printers in offices and they continuously spew out page after page, executing print commands from different people in different departments. As a result, it is essential that printers remain hale and hearty.
Sometimes, the printers just give up working and it is time to fix them. There are various ways to troubleshoot the printers and most of the common ailments can be fixed using the instruction manual and the printer maintenance kit. If nothing is working, a service call can be made and some technician from the manufacturers’ side will come and fix up the printer. For some of the common ailments, the basic troubleshooting involves resetting the printer. Resetting can be done with the printer memory, password, spooler and settings.
Most of the common problems associated with printer memory, password, spooler and settings can be resolved by resetting the printer. For most of the different resetting processes, the printer needs to be turned off. The owner manuals should detail about the process. Hence, before doing anything else, it is recommended that you go through the owner manual. In most of the cases, the solution will be given there. In case the solution is not available in the owner manual, then the next best step is to visit the manufacturer’s website and check out the troubleshooting steps given there. By checking the owner manual and/or the website, you will be able to save a lot on money, time and frustration.
Of course, if nothing works, then the best thing to do is to call up the helpline. Most of the printer helpline people are adept enough to take you through the resetting process while you are on the call with them. Resetting is relatively easy and if you follow the simple steps, there should be no problem at all. If that also doesn’t work (which I believe will not be the case), then the last resort is to ask for professional help. You can put in the request through the helpline and they will arrange to send someone. However, you may have to dish out a considerable sum of money for the technician to come in and reset the printer.
As we have been iterating again and again, resetting a printer is no big deal and anyone with a basic knowledge of printers can do it. All you need to do is follow some simple steps and get it done. Before you call the helpline, you may also want to employ one of your colleagues or neighbors to get the job done. You will save a load of time and money if you ask them to help.
