Serial to USB converter
Almost all the computers and especially laptops these days have many USB ports instead of COM and serial ports. This yet again becomes a major disadvantage and does not satisfy people with COM port and Serial cable supporting devices wanting to connect their computers to those devices. This in turn results in a major drop in the sales of the devices with their output cables as serial cables because more customers would want a device which has an output in the form of a USB cable and not a serial cable port.
To rectify this problem, many manufacturers and developers came out with an idea to convert the serial ports into USB ports. And eventually this turned out to be a success and serial to USB converter cables are widely available in the city’s markets. This has in return brought up the sales of the electronic good and supporting devices with Serial COM ports.
The Serial to USB converter cable takes the output of the required device in form of a Serial cable and lets out its own output as a USB compatible port. The cable generally has an adapter in the middle or in some part of it which does most of the conversion process. Since it converts it into a USB jack, it can be used anywhere in any part of the world. Many devices that use these serial ports are the Printer, some Modems, few joysticks used in the older days, old digital cameras, satellite phones, GPS receivers and many more devices.
