A Profile of Savin Corporation
What do we know about the Savin Corporation? The Savin Corporation, as far as anyone knows, is a company that specialized in developing digital imaging technologies. These technologies are then applied and implemented to the manufacture of photocopying machines, fax machines and printers. Savin is a respected brand name with its own niche in the printing industry, and perhaps it is this reason that prompted Ricoh Company, Ltd. to acquire it as one of its subsidiaries in 1995.
A Short History of Savin Corporation
Savin Corporation has its roots in the United States, in Stanford, Connecticut. Its corporate headquarters is still located there. The company was founded in 1959 by Max Lowe, who had named the company after his brother-in-law, Robert Savin.
Over the years, Savin Corporation has built its strength on the technologies they have developed in digital imaging. The brand name then became associated with innovation and quality in its own niche. Among its products are photocopying machines and fax machines, as well as the copy paper and developing liquids used in those machines. Savin Corporation also offers repairs and service work for their own products, as well as consultation services on creating networks and office systems.
Eventually, Savin Corporation was able to build a network of 250 offices and service centers throughout the United States. It also posted annual revenue amounting to US$675 million.
Perhaps because of its reputation and standing in the printing industry, Ricoh Company, Ltd. sought and bought Savin Corporation in 1995. Savin Corporation continues to grow under the banner of Ricoh as its wholly owned subsidiary.
The Services of Savin
Savin Corporation, according to its official website, is more oriented towards helping their clients focus on their business rather than on the processes that are involved in making that business. Their main aim is to digitize office processes to make it less dependent on paper and to minimize the challenges brought about by paper-dependent office processes.
How is this done? Savin does it through the following:
By creating a document portal that is supposed to make documents more accessible through scanning, sorting and indexing for easy reference, retrieval and distribution.
By providing a system of storage that eliminates the problems and risks posed by keeping a paper-based filing system. This system is supposed to be easier to manage and access.
By putting in software solutions that would make the output of forms more efficient and secure.
Because Savin Corporation is a subsidiary of Ricoh Company, Ltd., there is a huge emphasis on keeping the company’s techniques and systems more sustainable and friendlier to the environment. Just like the other companies that make up the Ricoh Group, Savin has gained recognition through the years for its efforts in implementing such sustainable and environment-conscious practices.
