Types of Receipt Printers
Do you need to buy a new receipt printer for your business and are wondering which is the best type for you and your needs? Here's a rundown of the three main types of receipt printers that you could choose from which will help you decide which would be the most suitable for you and your business.
Inkjet receipt printers - these use ink cartridges within the printer and have the ability to print receipts in different colors. If you are the owner of a retail business these are a really good type of printer to use for creating your receipts. This is due to the fact that you can advertise special offers in brighter colored inks and have your businesses brand and logo clearly labeled on all of your receipts for easy recognition by customers.
Thermal receipt printers -these are a type of printer that do not require an ink ribbon in order to print receipts. Instead they will heat up and create an impression on the paper used to create the receipt. They are a very fast type of printer and are good for retail outlets and restaurants. However you do need to be aware that over time these receipts will start to fade and if they are left in direct sunlight this fading will be even faster.
Dot matrix receipt printers - these are one of the most common types of printers and their use an ink ribbon and not ink cartridges. As the name suggests the characters and that are produced by this type of receipt printer will be formed from tiny dots. One of the main advantages of this type of printer for receipts is that they can print on more than one receipt at the same time, which is good if you are looking to produce carbon copies of all the receipts that you create. On the downside however they can be much slower to print and quite expensive to run. As they create carbon copies this type of printer can be incredibly useful in restaurants or kitchens where one copy of an order needs to stay at the point of sale and the other one needs to be taken into the kitchen.
